An official outreach arm of the church, the purpose of the Women’s Missionary Society is to develop and conduct activities in the local community to meet the physical, mental and emotional needs of the local community. Currently, two of the projects of the Carrie Jones Women’s Missionary Society of St Mary AME are serving dinner to families at Grace Home and playing bingo with residents at Nurse Care.
Under the direction of the Women’s Missionary Society, the Young People’s Division is designed to provide specific training and ministry opportunities for children and young adults from 2 to 26. The members of the YPD are in charge of the worship service every 4th Sunday.
The Christian Education Department provides educational opportunities to enhance the spiritual growth of the membership. The St Mary Christian Education Department oversees the conduct of the bible studies, Monday nights for men and Wednesday nights for all members, and church school on Sunday mornings.
MODELS of St Mary is St Mary’s version of the Sons of Allen with the purpose of encouraging men to become more involved in the life of the church and the community while growing in relationship with Jesus Christ.
The Lay Organization is responsible for instilling in the membership a love and appreciation for the history, tradition and principles of African Methodism and helping the membership grow in support and participation in local church activities. Additionally, the St Mary Lay Organization performs outreach at the NW Louisiana Veteran’s Home monthly.
St Mary boasts an adult choir and a youth choir that set the atmosphere for worship services each Sunday. In cooperation with the music ministry, the Praise Dance and Step Teams also offer members an opportunity to worship God through performance.
And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.
